Expert Care For Your Furry Friend

At Butterwick Animal Rehab Clinic, we’re proud to provide comprehensive Physiotherapy and Hydrotherapy services tailored to the unique needs of each canine who walks through our doors. Our Physiotherapy service is centred around restoring function, reducing pain, and promoting overall wellness in your dog. Through a range of techniques including massage, stretches, and targeted exercises, we work to enhance mobility and aid recovery, whether your furry friend is dealing with post-surgical challenges, age-related stiffness, or the aches and pains from everyday activities.

Hydrotherapy, on the other hand, is a method that takes the benefits of Physiotherapy into a soothing aquatic environment. The water’s buoyancy means reduced weight-bearing stress, making it an ideal setting for rehabilitation or gentle exercise. Our warm water pool is not just a place for recovery; it’s a space where dogs can rebuild muscle, enhance circulation, and find relief from chronic pain, all while enjoying the experience. Every splash is a step towards better health, with our dedicated specialists ensuring your dog’s safety and comfort throughout each session.

Together, our Physiotherapy and Hydrotherapy services at Butterwick form a dual approach to canine rehabilitation, designed to bring out the best in your dog. We are committed to providing treatments that not only address immediate health concerns but also contribute to a sustained, active lifestyle for your beloved pet. With Butterwick’s caring touch, we look forward to helping your dog rediscover the joy of movement and the freedom to play.

Expert Hydrotherapy & Physiotherapy for Dogs.

Hydrotherapy provides an efficient route to recovery for your dog. Know the comfort they’ll feel as your pet undergoes gentle, hassle-free rehabilitation:

  • Gentle on Joints: Hydrotherapy provides a low-impact environment that alleviates pressure on your dog’s joints, making it ideal for recovery from surgery, injury, or managing arthritis.
  • Pain Relief: The warm water used in Hydrotherapy naturally soothes aches and pains, offering your dog immediate comfort from chronic conditions or post-operative soreness.
  • Improved Circulation: Water therapy helps boost circulation, which can speed up healing processes and improve overall cardiovascular health.
  • Increased Muscle Strength: The water’s resistance is excellent for muscle toning and rebuilding without the risk of further injury, leading to a stronger and fitter dog.

Restorative Veterinary Physiotherapy

Just like humans, dogs can also greatly benefit from Physiotherapy:

  • Non-Invasive Treatment: Physiotherapy offers a medicine-free, surgery-free method to pain relief and recovery, reducing the need for medication and avoiding invasive procedures.
  • Customised Rehabilitation Plans: Every dog’s physiotherapy plan is customised to their specific needs, ensuring they receive the right exercises to aid in their recovery and improve their quality of life.
  • Faster Recovery Post-Surgery: Physiotherapy can speed up the healing process after surgery, helping dogs return to their normal activities more quickly and with less discomfort.

At BARC, we promise a happier, more active life for your dog through our tailored Hydrotherapy and Physiotherapy programs. Ready to see your best friend bounce back?

About Butterwick Animal Rehab Clinic

Butterwick Animal Rehab Clinic was founded by Mark Harding – one of the UK’s leading Veterinary Physiotherapists & Hydrotherapists, a nationally known Speaker, lecturer and has appeared on BBC’s Look North programme.

Mark has been helping pet owners just like you in the North east of England for nearly two decades. People just like you who are worried about their pet, potential long term dependency on drugs and their pets’ reducing quality of life. We strongly believe that a combined approach with your Vet, you, and us gives your dog the best chance possible of gaining and maintaining their zest for life and keeping them happy and healthy.

Nowadays, with the hydrotherapy side booming because of the amazing community support and interest, Mark soon realised more could be done, more dogs could be helped and more owners could be left feeling hopeful of a happier and healthier future again. His revelation was on account of a particular special woofer, Hector. Having had no feeling below the neck, Hector couldn’t walk following a spinal surgery, and he – as well as his owners – were, understandably, miserable. Mark wanted to do more – for this dog and the countless others he met. His search for something more led him to Veterinary physiotherapy! And without further ado, Mark jumped in and became one of the most sought-after veterinary physiotherapists in the area. If you’re still wondering about Hector – he went back to walks on the beach and having a ball.
